Once Upon a Time, In a Country, Far Far Away... OR: The World According to Dabisi
I sat down this week over more than a few drinks with accomplished gamer, artist and published poet, Dabisi. (So if part of this interview doesn’t make sense, you now know why). She prefers Vermouth, I am a Martelli Brandy drinker, myself.

I asked her about drink of choice and how she likes it: “It is best just plain or from the fridge (nice and cold), but you can also drink it 'on the rocks'. That's with ice cubes. Or you can, of course, sit on rocks while you drink, if you really like that” (She added that last part because she knows I a tad bit weird, I think)

So after we had a few, she opened up about King and who Dabisi really is:

Dabisi: I am a somewhat nutty, though wee bit serious blonde with artistic chaotic tendencies, who loves animals (especially cats and dogs). I write poetry and paint realistic surrealism (how's that for a contradiction in terminis), I'm bi-lingual (English and my mother tongue Dutch), single (and enjoying life with my two cats), hopelessly addicted to King (at the moment I play Pet Rescue too often. LOL). My friends consider me trustworthy (although I wonder whether that has anything to do with my memory being on the blink the last couple of years ;)), I have been through quite a lot in life, but, according to my therapist, have the 'somewhat relentless neurotic tendency to keep believing there's something good in everyone.'

    Alot2do: Where do you live?

Dabisi: Holland or The Netherlands. We're right opposite England, divided by The Channel. Below are Belgium and Luxemburg and to our right is Germany. We speak Dutch, not Hollandaise, but most of us have second languages, including English, French, German etc.

Alot2do: Hollandaise…that is a sauce, right? LOL So, the cosmic question…why are you who you are? (I told you we had been drinking!)

Dabisi: I guess that, beside the things you inherit in your genes and things that parents, grandparents, other family members and friends teach you, is that life experiences make you into who you are. Of course everyone deals with situations in their own way, but usually when something happens, there is a lesson to be learned. I am a bit of a Monty Python's Brian, I try to look 'on the bright side of life' in most situations (although I am a horrible whistler LOL).

Alot2do: Okay, so then how did you find King and why did you join King?

Dabisi: My friend Sardegna discovered King, no clue how, but she asked me to play a few games for her, which led to me getting my own King account and getting hopelessly addicted. Unfortunately she passed away last year, still miss her dearly.

Alot2do: I am sorry about your friend. Before Sardegna asked you to play, had you played many computer games before King?

Dabisi: Only Solitaire, which came with the Windows version.

Alot2do: Haven’t we all! So how many hours a day do you spend on King? (note to our readers…Dabisi often is surprised when the sun is coming up after playing the whole night away. And she has played around 51,700 games, as well as acquired that gorgeous flaming Heart Diamond!)

Dabisi: Too many, LOL! Seriously, I always say to myself, 'no more than two hours' and than loose track of time completely. I guess it varies from 2 to 8 hours. Am I an addict? YES I AM AND NOT ASHAMED TO ADMIT IT, LOL.

Alot2do: Orchido is your number one game. (High Score: 433,860) Any more games you love?

Dabisi: I love playing Pet Rescue, Midas Solitaire, Keyword, Scrabble Zing, Amazon Survival, Big Bang, Jelly Swelly... Ok this may well be the reason I'm addicted, LOL - King just has too many fun games for me.

Alot2do: And what are your least favorites?

Dabisi: Least favorites are sports games (honestly, I can't aim) and there are games that put me on the express train to Lala-land, such as Boneyard Bonanza, Monkey Quest, and at times, Chuzzle. I guess games that are speedy and require quick thinking are not really my thing; I like to take things easy and play games to relax my mind.

Alot2do: (Note: So when I want to win, those were the games I sent her way!) [Wicked Laugh erupting from my throat]

Alot2do: How many challenges do you get per day? And do you play them all?

Dabisi: Anywhere between 30 and 50. And on weekends this can go up to 70! I've tried playing them all at first (many of my night-time dreams were filled with game characters and music after playing so many king games all day! LOL), but gave up on that consuming practice quickly. I now make a selection of the challies I play and turn down the rest (sometimes I even have to delete challies of my favorite games), basically ‘cuz I need sleep too. And I do like to play some big tournaments of my fave's. I guess most of the time I spend on King is filled by playing the challies I get. Just recently somebody sent me a message saying they thought it was nice when I sent out a few challies of my own, cuz I hadn't done in a long time, LOL.

Alot2do: What time of day is the best time to win games, or at least for you?

Dabisi: At night, which is daytime in America (I live in Holland, six to nine hour time difference), but when I play during the day, I do win more jewels.

Alot2do: What kinds of things do you do or have you done in the real world?

Dabisi: Up until 2005 I worked as an assistant administrative secretarial health, safety, security, environment and quality manager for an on-shore based off-shore logistics company. I spent 50-60 hours a week at the job, standard. Though certain situations rendered me unable to perform my job, I am now on benefits and dream of earning my living as a poet and painter. I have published three booklets of poetry thus far (all Dutch - but am working on one in English) and I have also sold a few paintings over the years.

Alot2do: As a creative and artistic person, do you have suggestions for a new game?

Dabisi: Ehm, good question! Can't really think of any… Perhaps a few more word games, King hasn't got many of those. Although on the other hand, the more games King keeps adding, the more addicted I get, so...

Alot2do: So if you were in charge and you could change a few things about King, what would they be?

Dabisi: I am a Silver player, so I can't play all the games King has offered and can't really afford to become a Gold player, as I am already too addicted LOL. But it would be nice if King would make the games accessible for all players, even if it would only be 2 or 3 levels... but then again that would not be fair to the players who do pay to play, so ehm, no, I guess I'd leave King as is. Although there is one thing; ever since I got my blog, my personal message has vanished and I can't get it back on my page. Anyone can help me with that one?

There you have it, folks! The real Dabisi! Now, who has the fix for getting both her blog and personal message….

I just became aware that you ATE the wee mousie I so lovingly place in your care. For Shame!!! P.S. - How do the rabbits survive? ☺ Lippy
alotudo: The wee mousie was just a wee snack. The rabbits multiply like heck, so I keep a balance by letting one live and eating five. (nobody can eat just one)
